Christian Youth In Action

How are you spending your summer? As relaxing as it may be to chill at the pool or hang out with friends, what if you chose instead to make an eternal impact in the lives of kids right where you live?! High school and college students from around your state are coming together to reach the boys and girls of your community – and YOU can be a part of this team!

Christian Youth in Action® (CYIA™) is a program designed to train you and a team of other young people in effective and engaging ways to teach children about God. You will attend a one to two week training school where you will learn to present the Gospel clearly on a child’s level, counsel a child for salvation and lead a dynamic club ministry for kids. Components of this club include teaching a Bible lesson, a real-life missionary story and a Bible verse as well as leading songs, games and a fun review time.

After this training, you will return to your local community and teach clubs at various locations with a team of other young people. These clubs take place out in the community with predominantly unsaved kids who don’t regularly attend church. You will be able to take the light of the gospel to them in their apartment complexes, daycare centers, neighborhoods, schools and other community locations. Depending on the state you serve in, you will teach clubs from one to five weeks during the summer.

If you have a heart for ministry and want to team up with other young people to reach the children in your community, then CYIA is for you!

Just think, this summer you can:

  • Reach boys and girls with the Gospel

  • See your faith and vision grow deeper

  • Build new friendships that will last a lifetime

  • Grow in communication, teamwork, endurance, responsibility, and self-confidence

  • Gain experience for ministry in your own local church, school or vocation

Now, doesn’t THAT sound like a rewarding summer?!

2011

Summer of 2011 is soon approaching! We here at the local Child Evangelism Fellowship® office are excited for the great and mighty things that our Lord is going to do through our group of dedicated young people this summer. In order to be ready to reach the children that God is going to place along our path, we want to make sure that you are aware of the following:

Requirements:
Each Summer Missionary applicant needs to have completed the application paperwork (including your personal testimony, club availability form, and $25 application fee) and have it submitted to the local office on or before March 30th to receive the $20 discounted training cost. Application deadline for summer ministry is April 16th.

Summer Missionaries are also required to adhere to all CYIA® guidelines (dress code during training at Clearwater Christian College, memorization of required verses, successful completion of training evaluations, dress code for teaching 5-Day Clubs in local chapter, and to be in agreement with and follow the CEF® Statement of Faith and Doctrinal Protection Policy). We also require each support-raising missionary to commit to at least three weeks of availability to teach clubs during the 2011 5-Day Club season. (See attached job descriptions)

Training: Required for ALL Summer Missionaries
Application/Parent Meeting: March 20th at 6:00pm (This meeting is for all teens and at least one parent.)
Pre-trainings: All pre-training meetings will be held at the CEF Suncoast office, but are subject to change in location. As a summer missionary you are required to attend all pre-training meetings.
•    April 24th      10:00am - 12:00pm
•    May  15th      10:00am - 12:00pm
•    June 5th       10:00am - 12:00pm

*This year training will only be held for one week. You have two weeks to choose from.
1st  Training:
  (At Clearwater Christian College)
•    June 12th – 18th   (Commissioning service held on the 18th)
2nd  Training: (At Clearwater Christian College)
•    June 19th  - 25th  (Commissioning service held on the 25th)

Support Needed:
Please see the attached Positions and Job Descriptions paper, you will find a breakdown for both Senior and Junior missionaries. Summer missionaries are responsible for raising their needed support. Support letters, envelopes, and labels are available through the local office. These letters can be sent to friends, neighbors, family members, church missions boards, etc.

Child Evangelism Fellowship will send up to thirty support letters for you if you choose to bring them back to the local office for postage. (This cost is included in the $25 application fee.) We recommend that each missionary send out approximately twenty-five letters. Please note that the full amount needed for training at Clearwater Christian College must be in the office no later than June 9th in order to attend CYIA Training. The reason for this is that CEF is required to pay for training upon arrival on campus.

If your application is returned to the Suncoast office by March 30th then your training cost is $330. If it is received after this date, then your training cost is $350. Training cost includes cost of materials, application fee, training fee, and 2 shirts. The application fee and training cost must be in our local office by June 9th, 2010, for the Summer Missionary to attend CYIA training at Clearwater Christian College
